Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (IATA: LYS, ICAO: LFLL), in French Aéroport de Lyon-Saint Exupéry, is the main international airport serving Lyon and transport hub of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is located in the town of Colombier-Saugnieu, at 20 km southeast of Lyon. Since 1997 is the main hub for Air France.

 

 

Lyon Airport was built to replace the former Lyon-Bron Airport, whose facilities were outdated.

About the name: In the past, Lyon Airport was named Lyon Satolas Airport, even though, in 2000, along with the train station, the airport was renamed after Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, a notable Lyon citizen: An aviator pioneer, writer and laureate of the Grand Prix du roman de l’Académie française, who died in WWII.

Lyon Airport is a transport hub for the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in France.

Lyon Airport registered a total flow of 9,553,250 passengers in 2016.

Terminal Information

Given the recent terrorist attacks that struggled France, it is recommended to arrive at Lyon Airport 2 hours prior in case you board a domestic or EU flight and 3 hours prior if you board other destinations to pass through security.

 

Lyon Airport is the main transportation hub of Lyon city and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. With the completion on 2020 of the new Terminal 1, it will be able to host over 11 million passengers. About Lyon

Lyon is located in the east-central of France in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, which is its capital city. It is the third largest city in France after Paris and Marseille, with a total population of 506,615 inhabitants.
